This is my 790th post. I always thought I would have no problems making it to 1000th. Now I am not so sure about even making it to 800.
With Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, I think nobody has virtually any time left to write a nice piece on Blogger anymore on top of their real life. It seems the same is happening to me.
Goodbye for now.

oh dear this is one dusty corner.
see, when you have graduation, family visiting, vacationing, photo shoot and apartment setting up to do, and the routine of school is eliminated from your life, life becomes a soup of randomness.
in summary:
graduation at yankees stadium with kin.
family enjoying dessert at chikalicious!
vacationing at niagara falls without my sister who returned to london to prepare for her last exam.
wendy called for a meeting to discuss summer plans that was actually really a photo shoot to get shots for the web site.
my new room, after a couple of weeks of daily toiling - helping sheena move, waiting for cable guy, shopping at ikea, waiting for ikea delivery, getting fake wall set up, setting up furniture, going to ikea again, buying mattress, waiting for mattress delivery, moving couch, painting this beautiful "tropical lagoon" color on my wall, cleaning up the apartment, going to ikea again, moving some stuff like books and winter coats... and i'm still not done yet. this really deserves a post by itself but ah well, this should be a summary.

Well, it's been a long time since I posted here and one of the reasons is that I've been really busy!
But here's an update for the bus month of April:
Remember SouthEast Asian Night? It was a huge hit and we had lots of food...
And of course cultural costumes...
Vietnamese Students Association - Angie and her friend in traditional Viet attire. Thai Students Association - Thai girls of TSA were all so bright and festive. Plus cultural performances...
Thai xylophone And when I wasn't busy running my booth... I was the garbage man... And after a hard long night... Later that week, I had a Words Beyond Borders International Food Tasting event. Not as much planning and logistics, just coordinating various clubs to bring their snacks or desserts.
That weekend, the RI people in NYC met up with Heng Tang Tang! Last Thursday, Vocollision finally performed more than one song at a time and we had our first concert.
The next day, I had my Undergraduate Research Conference where I presented my thesis. In my category of learning and behavior in mammals, I won best presentation!!! Here's my psych honors class with our professor.
Later that night, we celebrated Ying's 24th (hee hee... really, 30th) birthday! And yesterday night, I submitted my honors thesis!!!
I can't believe school is ending in 2 weeks. I need to start studying for my finals. Yikes!

Saturday, March 21, 2009 my 24 hours in new haven
on thursday, i took the 2 hour train up to visit chang mou for his birthday... new haven is not the nicest city... but yale is quite pretty... not drop-dead gorgeous, but definitely better than nyu, with more class and style... and the residential colleges are so well-maintained with such good facilities, it really is no surprise they are a top ivy-league while nyu is not... sorry, a lot of residual hater feelings from complaining to chang's friend, kolby, about how the hype for nyu is not what it's made out to be...
anyways, so yes after a short tour of yale, and playing table tennis and some wii in chang's dorm, we went over to the tennis center at yale bowl for our tennis session... the tennis center is where they hold the pilot pen tournament... stupidly i forgot to bring my camera to anywhere even though i brought it with me on the phone... so the only photos are taken in good light on my iphone for the hot pot dinner that night:
that night we played more wii - mario kart and this game about petroleum blobs called glob or something - till 3 plus... then some more late night talk and discussion before sleep... then more tour of the area around yale, lunch, then off i went to the train station... a pretty short trip... but a good one... :D

Sunday, March 15, 2009 because it's alright for britney to say 'bitch' in front of your kids...
... wearing this:
got back pretty late from britney's circus tour... it was pretty good. not the best concert though. it was pretty impressive in the first half, real tight and all but it became disappointing when she started singing obscure songs and the theme deviated from the really cool circus concept... PCD salvaged the overall impression too i guess... so glad that they were the opening act... the concert started way on time and char and i missed like two songs cos i was late... and it ended way early at 11! >(
anyways, yes kids should not be permitted to concerts that are obviously of such sexual themes... if there are ratings for movies and tv shows, shouldn't concerts, which are so visual - and not exactly singing-based in the case for britney - have ratings that do not permit kids as well... i don't know what some parents are thinking...
i guess disney must have been really smart to bank on all their teen pop sensations making kids go gaga... like those crazy sold out hannah montana or jonas brothers concerts... kids want to go watch and they influence their siblings and friends to go watch... well obviously kids want whatever someone else has... and more importantly they can't go by themselves, and so parents have to accompany them... and there! you have your jackpot of selling 20 tickets to 4 families when really probably only 1 person was the original true fan that the shows were targeting at...
on a side note, i was thinking of what to wear for britney's concert today when i remembered that the belt on my vest was ripped... and so i thought about where i could buy a sewing kit... and i was disappointed with how i still fell so lost as to where i can get what in nyc and how in singapore, you can pretty much find anything you want in a mall / ntuc... haha... so then i thought about how singapore is like a suburbia in a city layout with all the high-rise hdb flats and condos... then i thought about how singapore has no land and would be restricted in ajor future developments when land reclamation has hit its max...
and finally the train of thought got me to the major point, which is, i thought about the jungle in the west where they use for military training, and then i thought to myself: seriously they should just remove it and put it o better use and development... we are not in the 40s anymore and really how is jungle warfare useful? i mean unless we are planning to send troops to help some other country, or that we plan to invade johor, we really only need our soldiers to protect our country in times of war... and that said, singapore has no jungles!!! upper/lower seletar or upper/lower pierce reservoirs aside, which can be sacrificed with our NEWater, i can't see why singapore soldiers need to be in green suit and camo when defending an HDB estate... yes we are a garden city but i think looking more like concrete instead of the swamp thing would help better...
i think it's time the SAF review the tactical planning of defending and review the military training program... as the war on iraq has revealed, attacking / defending a modern city is the norm now and successfully navigating through city roads and infiltrating high-rise buildings is the key to success... actually the newer warfare is probably how not to get air-striked or wiped out by a nuke... i think fundamentally that means don't go into war in the first place... because seriously, there will not be much left to defend...
i wouldn't have blogged tonight, but my mom called as i was eating a very very late dinner (ate a miserly nine dollar pizza with soda at brit's concert!) while watching the latest episode of heroes, and we skyped for an hour so everything's delayed and so i might as well just write things down before they slip my mind even more...
and this took me really long to recall, and only did after i stopped trying to think about it:
so is it racism if a stereotype is an assumption backed by statistics? i.e. based on probability, your judgment of certain characteristics of a person is based on what you have learned about the statistics of the various characteristics for his/her race...

it's been a hell of a week... wow so so much that i had to do... i think a lot of it was me wasting time last week and then suffering the cramming of many many chapters this week... i should have known better to start earlier with the readings... instead of leaving them all till this week when i start panicking for my two midterms... but i did it! 5 nutrition chapters (not counting the 3 i read long before last week) and 4 psychosexual chapters! gosh... i read the 4 psychosexual chapters in two days - yesterday and today, and then took my online exam... :/
as i'm typing this, i'm enjoying my sugared cereal:
well the only reason i buy such unhealthy cereal is because of cheap gimmicks from disney once again:
it's hannah montana! miley cyrus makes everything so bubbly and delicious that i can't help myself but just wanna buy it!
oh this happen the other day, tibetans protesting.
i don't know where they were walking from and where they were going but the crowd went on forever along 3rd ave, for a good 15 minutes that no cars could pass:
i think the demonstration was marking the 50th year that they have been suffering under the chinese government. they were chanting, "hu jing tao is a liar! hu jing tao is a murderer! china is for chinese, tibet is for tibetan!" it was pretty hilarious when some chinese women started shouting back at them. i don't know what province they were from but from their shoutings of "shia pi!" it was pretty obvious they were not from beijing. lol.
i'm so happy that spring break is finally here. i shall finally get my sleep and hopefully do nothing at all!!! though i might just end up slogging away for my psych honors thesis that is due right after the break. hopefully i get to go to san fran or somewhere nice and sunny for a few days...
meanwhile, all i can ask for a sleep-in day, waking to beautiful sunshine flooding into my room:
i love it when the light hits my face in the morning and i just wake up naturally without an alarm:

haven't wrote any poems for a long time in this much-forgotten blog...
i dance the snowy streets
swirling in the violent winds as they fell from the skies my tears formed frozen flakes from the cold blue of your eyes
sleeping with peace hand in hand avoiding the ordeal waking up to a nightmare where dreams were never real
your body doesn't lie but your lips do you want me now but you don't want me later your mind doesn't know what your heart feels you care for me but not enough to cater
pleasantries that carried the hurt through the irrational contradictions nothing was really lifted from the illusions of perception
i danced in the snowy streets today avoiding the traps of slush puddles pretty much like how you danced me around like a sheep that's easily befuddled
